At Saline County Children's Dentistry (SCCD), we go to great lengths to value your time. We know that visiting the dentist can be a stressful time for many children and adding a long wait time before the procedures even begin can add to the anxiety. This is why we have always had a practice of not double booking our dentists. What is double booking? It's basically what it sounds like- one dentist has two appointments scheduled at the same time. If one person doesn't show up, the other patient gets the full attention of the dentist. But if both patients show up, then one has to wait and then it begins to ripple down the schedule causing delays that are longer and longer the later your appointment is scheduled. This is not something that we have ever done at SCCD because we value your time. Unfortunately, the opposite of this can happen. When we only have one patient scheduled and then they do not show up, our dentists are waiting around until the next patient shows up. But what does that hurt? Well, it depends. Our office is very popular and because we only book one patient at a time, sometimes it can be over a month to get a patient scheduled for an appointment. But when someone doesn't show up for their scheduled appointment time, that's a space that could have been used for that other patient who is waiting a month to get in. We go to great lengths to prevent this from happening – by sending text reminders, or calling the day before to confirm the appointment. We understand that sometimes extenuating circumstances makes it where you can't honor the appointment that you have scheduled. We just ask that you let us know as soon as possible (at minimum, 24 hours before) in order to offer that spot to someone else in order to keep our office running smoothly and without long delays. You might not think it's such a big deal to miss a check-up, but you never know when you might be the person needing to get in for an appointment later.
