Pediatric Dentistry

Exceptional Pediatric Dentistry

Pediatric dentistry focuses on the oral health and unique needs of youth. We are concerned about your child's total health care. Good oral health is an important part of total health, and we will work to teach your child proper oral health habits.

Protect Your Child's Teeth

It is important for your child to prevent tooth decay so they have strong overall oral health. Four things are needed for a cavity to form: 1) a tooth; 2) bacteria; 3) sugars or other carbohydrates; and 4) time. We will teach your child proper eating habits to keep bacteria out.

New research is continually being done to develop new and exciting techniques for preventing dental decay and other oral diseases.

Your child's first dental visit should occur shortly after the first tooth appears and no later than their first birthday. Early exams are an easy way to see if there is any detection of tooth decay that can be treated.

The first dental visit will provide:
  • A program of home care including brushing, flossing, diet, and the importance of fluorides
  • Risk assessment
  • Information about early childhood caries, which may be due to inappropriate nursing habits or inappropriate use of sippy cups
  • The latest facts about finger, thumb, and pacifier habits
  • What you need to know about preventing injuries to the mouth and teeth
  • Information on growth and development
At Saline County Children's Dentistry, we will give you a dedicated and committed approach to restoring and guiding teeth, and teaching preventive dental health care through your child's high school years. If necessary, we will provide information on sealants, oral piercing, wisdom teeth, missing teeth, and tobacco use.

An important part of our education is concerned with the medical and dental health of any special needs patient. People with significant medical, physical, or mental disabilities often present unique challenges to dentists. We are trained to address their special needs and provide the excellent care available.
